NLFA Hosts Annual Officials and Coaches Meeting Ahead of 2025 Season

This past Saturday, the North Louisiana Football Alliance (NLFA) hosted its annual officials and coaches meeting in Bossier City, Louisiana, to gear up for the upcoming 2025 season. League officials, coaches, and new referees gathered to discuss rule adjustments, safety protocols, and strategic initiatives for the league's continued growth.

The meeting kicked off with NLFA President Holland Witherspoon addressing the attendees, emphasizing the league's commitment to player development and operational excellence. One of the major announcements was the introduction of Allen Smith as the new Deputy Commissioner. Smith, who brings extensive experience in football operations, will play a pivotal role in supporting the league's expansion and player support programs.

Director of Officials Chad Fisher led the officials' meeting, welcoming several new referees to the league. Fisher outlined updated protocols and reviewed key adjustments to special teams play, including modifications to punt and kick-off procedures aimed at enhancing game flow and excitement.

"Player safety remains our top priority," said Fisher. "These changes are designed to improve game dynamics while minimizing risks."

In line with this focus on safety, the NLFA reaffirmed its commitment to robust concussion protocols. Coaches and officials received updated training materials and guidance on recognizing and responding to head injuries promptly.

The meeting also highlighted the selection process for the NLFA Elite teams, which will showcase top-performing players across the league. Witherspoon expressed optimism about the talent pool for the upcoming season and the league's mission to provide athletes with exposure to professional and collegiate scouting opportunities.

As the NLFA continues preparations for the 2025 season, the organization remains dedicated to fostering a competitive, safe, and development-focused environment for players, coaches, and fans alike. The new season kicks off in March, with games scheduled across the league's two hub locations in the Ark-La-Tex region.
